For the welfare of Papuan, Jokowi Focuses on Building Infrastructure

During President Joko Widodo's administration, Papua was one of the areas that became the focal point of development. Various infrastructures are presented as concrete steps to strengthen the economy of the people of Papua.

Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto revealed that Papua has always been a concern of President Jokowi. "Jokowi is important for Papua, Papua is important for Jokowi. 13 times President Jokowi visited Papua. There is Trans Papua," he said.

Jusuf Kalla (JK), a former vice president, asked the public not to underestimate Indonesia's attitude towards Papua and West Papua. He considered, the government had given great attention to the area which was now taking place in Manokwari.

He explained, the subsidies for the region were given greater than the award given by PT Freeport. From the economic sector, many also think that Indonesia is taking natural resources (SDA).

"But to note, all of that huge income is Freeport and gas, which is approximately Rp. 20 trillion in royalties tax. But the state, the government provides a budget, development, subsidies of nearly Rp. 100 trillion. So Papua is subsidized," JK said.

1. Trans Papua Road, a 4,330.07 kilometer trans Papua road project connecting the provinces of West Papua and Papua Province.
2. The Youtefan Long Bridge connecting Hamadi-Holtekamp.
3. Electricity Infrastructure in Papua and West Papua, President Joko Widodo also built six infrastructures that were inaugurated in October 2016.
4. After the Sentani airport, the Government built and developed 10 airports, namely 6 airports each in Papua Province and 4 airports in West Papua Province.
5. Development of the Indonesia - Papua New Guinea Border Road, from Merauke to Jayapura in the Papua Province along 1,098.
