"To get here, I departed from Domine Eduard Osok Airport, Sorong City, to Rendani Airport, Manokwari Regency, and continued my journey by helicopter that landed on the Irai Airport helipad," he explained.
.
Not only that, his trip to the Pegunungan Arfak was also welcomed by the local government and there was talk about development plans in the Pegunungan Arfak District and an inspection of the Irai Market.
.
"In Arfak, I had a dialogue with the local government about the plan to accelerate development in the Pegunungan Arfak District, and review the Irai Market. Thank you for the welcome from Arfak residents," he added.
.
President Jokowi promised to immediately build a number of infrastructure in the Pegunungan Arfak District, West Papua. However, Jokowi will prioritize improving road conditions in the Pegunungan Arfak District.
.
Because, the streets in that area are full of big rocks and steep inclines. Even to get to the City of Manokrawi, residents have to spend three to four hours.
.
"Regarding the first, the road between Manokwari and the Pegunungan Arfak that the Regent had conveyed asked for immediate completion and asphalted. Then we immediately finished," Jokowi said when meeting with Pegunungan Arfak residents on Sunday (10/27/2019).
.
Jokowi wants this road access to be paved and repaired soon so that it can facilitate the transportation of residents who want to sell agricultural products to Manokrawi. Because, the majority of Pegunungan Arfak residents are farming to make money.
.
This is Jokowi's first time visiting the Pegunungan Arfak Regency. In fact, the former Mayor of Solo was the first president to set foot in the Pegunungan Arfak District.
.
"Previously, President Jokowi had never been to the Pegunungan Arfak. President Jokowi was also the first President to come here, there was no (President) before," said one resident of the Arfak Mountains.
