A Week Visited by the Commander of the TNI-Kapolri, Papua Conducive

TNI Commander in Chief Marshal Hadi Hadi Tjahjanto together with National Police Chief General Idham Azis have been on a working visit for almost a week in Papua. The National Police Headquarters stated that for almost a week in Papua, the area seemed conducive.

"Yes, the condition of Papua is conducive," said Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brig. Gen. Argo Yuwono, at the Papua Regional Police Headquarters, Dr. Sam Ratulangi, Jayapura, Sunday (1/12/2019).

The Commander and Chief of Police's work visit began on Tuesday, November 26, and ends today. The TNI Commander's entourage along with the Indonesian Police Chief's entourage also departed back to Jakarta by airplane at noon today.

The National Police chief's last visit was to visit the Papua Police Headquarters. There, the National Police Chief also briefed his members in private.

Argo said the situation of Papua when visited by the National Police Chief seemed conducive. The post-vulnerability points, such as the Wamena area, he said were already conducive.

"In accordance with what we have done, so we are from the first day at Sentani then we go to Timika, to Wamena then we go to Jayapura, the point is we see the community activities there as usual doing activities," said Argo.

Argo said the economy in Papua and in various regions after the riots in Papua had begun to stabilize.

"We are quite impressed with the post-riot activities so that we can immediately switch or immediately improve economic activity, this is very good," concluded Argo.
