Next Year, 350 Special Fishing House Units Will Be Built

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to support the Government's efforts to improve the welfare and living standards of fishermen through a number of infrastructure developments in Indonesia.

The government continues to improve the quality of welfare and living standards of fishermen. One of them is through the construction of special houses (rusus) and self-help housing improvements for fishermen.

"The construction of special houses is intended to make fishermen have livable homes and overcome slum settlements on the beach," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said when attending the National Coordination Meeting of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Jakarta, Wednesday, 4 December 2019.

For this reason, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will build 350 units for fishermen, spread across nine provinces. Among other things, in North Sumatra as many as 30 units, Riau 30 units, West Kalimantan 30 units.

Furthermore, South Sulawesi has 30 units, Central Sulawesi has 60 units, North Sulawesi has 30 units, North Maluku has 60 units, Papua has 40 units, and West Papua has 40 units.

In 2020, infrastructure support will be carried out by the Ministry of PUPR, among others, Water Resources (SDA) through the improvement of salt ponds and fisheries irrigation networks, the Settlement Sector through improving the quality of fishing settlement areas, and the Housing Sector through the construction of Special Houses (Rusus) and improvements for self-help housing for fishermen.
