Papua Contractors Involved in Speeding Up Development in Jayawijaya

The Jayawijaya Regency Public Works Department (PU), Papua Province involves Papuan contractors to accelerate infrastructure development in the region.
.
Head of the Jayawijaya Public Works Office, Max Hattu in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, said Wednesday that after the September 23, 2019, a number of infrastructure workers left Jayawijaya.
.
"We have taken steps, one of which is that if the contractor is a native of the area, he must guarantee the safety of the craftsman. He must go up to the location and even stay with the builders so that the builders have the courage to work," he explained.
.
In addition to communication with native Papuan contractors, the DPU also coordinates with the TNI / Polri so workers get protection.
.
By the end of November 2019, the work handled by DPU had reached 89.20 percent.
.
"In 2019, there were a total of 29 activities. Of these there are only four activities whose positions are still 80.19 percent. Beyond that, they are already 100 percent," he said.
.
The four physical activities that are in the completion stage consist of one bridge, sanitation and irrigation which are spread in Walaik District, Pyramid District, Asolokobal District and Muai.
.
"With the remaining time available, we are optimistic that the work will be 100 percent complete because we only have 19 percent. Temporary work is ongoing," he said.
