Papua Land of Peace

Papua Land of Peace

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invites all elements of society, traditional leaders and religious leaders to keep Papua in a peaceful region. "Let's all keep Papua so that it remains a peaceful region, a peaceful land," Jokowi said.
.
"I invite all the leaders and traditional leaders, leaders and religious leaders, young people of Papua, to realize an advanced Papua and remain peaceful," he continued.
.
Jokowi then said that he was committed to continuing to develop Papua. Both in terms of physical and human resources. All of that was done so that the people of Papua could be more advanced and prosperous.
.
"I, the government will continue to be committed to continuing to advance Papua both in the physical field, as well as human resources, so that all of us, especially mama, mama, pace, mace, Papuan children can all be more advanced and prosperous," Jokowi said.
.
Jokowi claimed to always monitor the latest conditions in Papua and West Papua. He claimed to have received an intensive report on the latest developments.
.
A new approach is needed, namely dialogue. Through dialogue can be known the true expectations of the people of Papua. Without knowing the hopes of the people of Bumi Cenderawasih, the government's efforts to organize Papua with a heart even though it is not necessarily answer the people's dreams.
.
A number of community leaders, peace activists, and academics in Papua also took the initiative to bring a peaceful atmosphere in the eastern tip of the Indonesian province. Papua Land of Peace is a great vision that must be realized by all components of the nation.
.
It is worth appreciating the dialogue held by President Joko Widodo with 61 Papuan and West Papuan figures at the State Palace, Jakarta, yesterday. Dialogue is a real form of alignment. When this country wants unity, it should also want to sit on equal footing with its people.
.
Even so, we must also say that one dialogue is not enough. The government should dialogue with all levels of society, especially educated young people from Papua because their role begins to shift the position of traditional and religious leaders in the community.
.
It must be admitted that those who are always engaged in relation to Papua are educated young people who are scattered in various cities in Indonesia and abroad. They are connected to each other through communication networks. Even though these young people were raised in independence, their minds tend to be outside the spirit of special autonomy.
.
Dialogue with different groups, especially with educated youth, is a step that must be taken to resolve the conflict in Papua as a whole.
.
Although unity is a fixed price for Indonesia, dialogue with various groups should not be considered taboo. Don't we already have concrete evidence of the effectiveness of dialogue through peace that has been realized in Aceh?
