Papua Millennials Dominate Capital Market Investors

Papua Millennials Dominate Capital Market Investors

Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) Papua Representatives claim the capital market industry continues to experience growth, including from investors and transaction value.
.
Head of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) of Papua Representative, Kresna A. Payokwa said that as of September 2019, there were around 7,166 investors. This means there is an increase of up to 50% from the previous year.
.
"The transaction value as of September 2019 reached Rp 179 billion. Every month there are also more than Rp100 billion stock transactions from all investors in Papua Province, "he said, Tuesday (10/29) to reporters in Jayapura.
.
The most encouraging is that Papuan investors are dominated by millennials, some of whom are students aged 18-25 years.
.
"The number reaches 2,000 investors. That is why we are intensively educating the existing young generation, "he said.
.
Even so, understanding about capital market investment is still minimal among Papuans, compared to saving at a bank.
.
"Our culture is inseparable from a culture that emphasizes saving rather than investing. For this reason, we continue to educate millennials, so there is an understanding and understanding of capital investment, "he explained.
