Thousands of TNI / Polri Personnel Ready to Secure PON 2020

A total of 8,410 TNI / Polri personnel assisted by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) will be deployed to secure the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) 2020 in Papua Province.

As stated by the Chief of Staff of the Military Region (Kasdam) XVII Cenderawasih, Brig. Gen. Irham Waroihan represented the Commander of Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih as the PON security coordinator in 2020.

At the PON XX Grand Committee Leadership Meeting with the Papua Provincial Government, Regents and Mayors holding the PON XX at the State Building, Wednesday (11/12), Kasdam Irham Wairohan said, the data on the number of personnel will be coordinated again with the Papua Regional Police and other relevant agencies.

"We hope that each team from the province may bring security forces both TNI and Polri in order to facilitate us to communicate," he said.

Kasdam added, of the total number of security personnel, consisting of 4,250 military personnel, 3,500 Indonesian National Police personnel, around 600 people from the Satpol PP, including from the Basarnas (National SAR Agency), would be involved by 50 people.

"We will secure the four PON clusters, of course we will coordinate with friends at the Regional Police and Satpol PP in the future," he said. Not only that, continued Kasdam, the security forces will carry out the security of the PON fire that will pass through several districts in the Papua region.
