November 2019, 12 thousand Passenger Ships came to Papua

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province records the flow of sea passengers in Papua experiencing differences in the number of embarkations and debarkations. The number of passengers arriving using ships in Papua has increased in the November 2019 period.

The number of passenger ships coming to the sea experienced an increase of 23.35 percent or as many as 12,013 passengers who came to Papua in that period.

"The number consists of 9,701 people coming to the Jayapura Port and 2,312 passengers arriving at the Merauke port," said Bambang BPS Ponco Aji, Head of Statistics for the Distribution of the Papua Province, Thursday (2/1).

Even so, Bambang explained if different conditions occur precisely for the flow of sea passengers departing from two ports in Papua.

The number of sea passengers departing during the November 2019 period decreased by 10.48 percent compared to the previous month.

"In the November 2019 period, there were 14,120 people departing from two ports in Papua, consisting of 11,768 people from the Jayapura port and 2,352 people from the Merauke port. The number has decreased from the previous month," he concluded.
