Puncak Regency Collaborates with PLN to Operate Ilaga PLTMH

The Government of Puncak Regency, Papua Province is exploring cooperation with PT PLN (Persero) to operate the Ilaga Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 700 KW which was recently inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif.
.
"In the future, we will cooperate with PLN to operate the Ilaga PLTMH. At the moment, it is still being handled by the Puncak District Public Works Office," Willem said in Timika, Monday.
.
Willem said he was grateful for the operation of the Ilaga PLTMH. Because at this time the people in the City of Ilaga and surrounding areas were able to enjoy electricity throughout the day and night (1x24 hours).
.
Previous years, said Willem, Puncak Regency Government poured a very large budget for the provision of electricity lighting facilities in Ilaga because it still relied on PLTD which consumes diesel fuel and solar power plants or solar cells. Meanwhile, to transport fuel from Timika to Ilaga, it takes a significant amount of money to charter an aircraft.
.
"So far we have prepared a budget through the APBD to support the operation of lighting facilities in Ilaga. In 2013 we budgeted Rp. 15 billion, then in subsequent years it fell to around Rp. 12 billion. Now we are only preparing Rp. 2 billion for the benefit of PLTMH maintenance and the construction of electricity networks to the office. government offices and community houses, "explained Willem.
.
The Ilaga PLTMH facility, which is located next to the Jila River, Ilaga was officially inaugurated by ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif on December 20, 2019. The facility was built in 2016 in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as part of the 'Bright Indonesia' program, where the work was handled by PT Wijaya Karya .
.
The construction of the Ilaga PLTMH costs around Rp. 100 billion from the State Budget through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The PLTMH has a capacity of 700 KW and has now electrified 600 families in two districts, namely Ilaga and Gome. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has also built 300 units of Solar Public Street Lighting (PJUTS). From 2016 to 2019, 725 units have been built in Puncak District.
