Yahukimo Will Build Oil Refineries

To make it easier to refill special fuel oil in the mountainous region, the Yahukimo Regency Government plans to build an oil refinery.

The Regent of Yahukimo, Abock Busup revealed, to follow up on the development plan, the Regency Government of Yahukimo planned to hold a meeting with related parties on January 14-15, 2020 in Surabaya.

"We have received an invitation, the meeting was to discuss how the mechanism is," Abock told reporters in Jayapura, Wednesday (9/1).

To prepare for the construction of the oil refinery, Abock admitted that the Yahukimo regency had prepared land. "With the hope that refueling for the mountainous region will be centered in Yahukimo," he explained.

In addition to the construction of oil refineries, Abock said that his party also plans to open wide-bodied aircraft flight routes, with the Makassar-Sorong-Dekai route. "Hopefully this plan can be answered according to our expectations," he said.

"The Nop Goliat Dekai Airport currently has a runway length of 2,500 meters, and the land is flat so it is ideal for wide body aircraft," he said.

He admitted that his party had written letters to the Ministry of Transportation and had met with the Director General of Transportation in December 2019, on 2 or 3 February 2020 the wide body aircraft (Batik Air and Citylink) landing tests would be carried out from Makassar, Timika and Dekai.
