The demand for Ransiki South Manokwari cocoa beans exports is increasing

The demand for Ransiki cocoa beans exports in South Manokwari Regency, West Papua, has increased after initial shipments to the UK and the Netherlands in early January 2020. Ransiki cocoa has premium quality as the best raw material for chocolate products. Industry players in the European region have started to recognize the quality of the Ransiki cocoa.
.
Head of the West Papua Province Horticultural and Plant Food Service Office, Jacob Fonataba in Manokwari, said on Monday that only 6 tons of shipments to the UK and the Netherlands were being carried out per month.
.
"Only one buyer, but now there are more requests from other buyers in the Netherlands. So now the productivity of cooperatives and farmers in Ransiki, South Manokwari, we are boosting," said Fonataba.
.
"I think this is an opportunity, so we hope our farmers and cooperatives are ready. In business, the continuity of production and quality must be maintained," he said. In terms of land availability, South Manokwari is very able to meet market demand.
.
At present, only 225 hectares of cocoa plantations in South Manokwari are in production. While plantation land reserves in the area still reach 600 to 900 hectares. The plant already exists and is already bearing fruit, but its production has not been maximized. The cocoa plantations there are former land that was once managed by PT Coklat Ransiki.
.
This year the West Papua provincial government through the parent budget has prepared a budget for rejuvenation of 100 hectares of cocoa plants in Ransiki. The same thing will be done by the Ministry of agriculture.
.
"The Governor sees a significant market opportunity for Ransiki cocoa. If the production is consistent and continues to increase, the Governor will not hesitate to pour the budget again into the revised budget," he said.
