Trans Papua Road Works Reach 97 Percent

Trans Papua Road Works Reach 97 Percent

The Head of the Implementation Center of the Papua Regional National Road, Osman H. Marbun, said that until now, the construction of the Trans Papua Road, which is currently being worked on, has reached 97 percent. So that it is targeted that by 2020 everything will be finished.
.
According to Osman, the Trans Papua Road was built aimed at opening isolation in areas in Papua and West Papua.
"The construction of the Trans Papua Road is actually encouraged to be completed in 2019. But some activities had stopped so the target that had to be completed was constrained, "he explained, Monday (2/12).
.
Of the 97% that have been completed, said Osman, there are still 26 kilometers of roads to complete. In addition, there are still 179 kilometers to the border, from Oksibil to Jayapura.
"Where this year the work of the Trans Papua Road is still being carried out in stages. While for 2020, we will partner with the TNI to work, specifically for the Wamena (Jayawijaya) road segment, ”explained Osman.
.
Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), John Wempi Wetipo, said the construction of the Trans Papua Road is only a national road. "This means that the ministry does not handle provincial or district road construction. For that reason, we ask for the understanding of all parties related to this matter, "said Jhon, who had been the Jayawijaya Regent for two terms, Monday (2/12).
.
According to Jhon, indeed from West Papua and several other provinces some time ago someone came to ask for help to him to encourage the construction of roads in his area.
"But if it is the status of provincial or regency roads, it is clear that the ministry cannot enter, so there is its own division," he said.
.
As for the progress of the current development of the Trans Papua Road, said Jhon, the construction is still continuing, both from Jayapura-Wamena, the Bintang-Jayapura Mountains, and Boven Digul-Yahukimo, and Merauke-Mappi.
.
"But we are targeting to finish next year (2020)," he said.
