Benny Wenda Asks For Donations For Personal Purposes

Benny Wenda Asks For Donations For Personal Purposes

Apparently a split was happening in the body of the OPM. Benny Wenda, who was the leader of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), was considered a traitor by the West Papua National Committee (KNPB).
.
Agus Kossay, Chairperson of the KNPB has issued a statement that Benny Wenda is a traitor. So far, Benny who is considered a riot actor in Papua recently, is considered only fighting for himself. It all started with the news that Benny had drawn up a Free Papua cabinet without involving local OPM people. This was done by Benny because he wanted to continue to get donations from foreign NGOs.
.
So far, Benny is known to have a glamorous lifestyle and can live comfortably abroad. While OPM members in the country live in the forests and eat poorly, Benny Wenda is busy maintaining the comfort he has received from the British government.
.
Now on behalf of ULMWP, Benny Wenda is raising funds for overseas movements. This was considered by the KNPB as a sign of bankruptcy of the ULMWP. "Roll out the mat!", The words described by one of the KNPB figures Agus Kossay, he conveyed this to the editor of papuanews.id (10/22).
.
Met in between his activities, Agus Kossay expressed his disappointment at the efforts made by Benny Wenda so far. Rejecting the UN petition submitted by Benny Wenda was a severe blow to ULMWP and KNPB.
.
"Just shut down, there is no hope anymore, all the ugliness of Benny Wenda has been known by the whole world," said Agus. He also appealed to all Papuans to be careful because ULMWP is currently in need of funds to support Benny Wenda in Australia.
.
"We don't want to give money to Benny Wenda anymore, he will spend it alone, but there is no result," Agus added. He also conveyed his firm stance as Chairman of the KNPB 1 that the KNPB would no longer support the ULMWP movement, and if there were KNPB members who were still communicating with the ULMWP they would be expelled from the KNPB.
.
As if ignoring the words of the KNPB, Benny was even more courageous to ask Australia. Not even ashamed to beg for help to the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison. This was quoted from an article published by SBSNews Australia on Tuesday (03/09/2019).
.
But apparently now the tit for tat is not welcomed. The reason, a spokesman for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) told SBS News on Monday (2/9/2019) that Australia 'recognized the integrity and sovereignty of Indonesia's territory over the Papua province'.
.
"Our position is clearly determined by the Lombok Agreement between Indonesia and Australia," the statement continued. The Lombok agreement is an agreement between Indonesia and Australia that outlines the security obligations of each country.
