The Papua Provincial Education, Library and Archives Service in collaboration with the local Statistics Agency (BPS) has completed illiteracy.
.
The Head of the Papua Provincial Education, Library and Archives Service, Christian Sohilait, said in Jayapura on Friday that building a smart and smart Papuan community so as not to be left behind from other regions must start with a proper education.
.
"For this reason, we are taking quick steps to prepare accurate data on the number of illiterate figures in Papua in collaboration with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province, in order to obtain special illiteracy data for Papuan children from 29 districts and cities in Papua," Christian said when he visited the Papua BPS Office on Friday.
.
In addition to the data related to the number of illiterates, he said, his party also plans to collaborate in the field of education, in this case asking BPS Papua, to provide space for native Papuan children to be able to attend education at the state statistical high school in Jakarta.
.
"For me, statistics is very important and there are not many interested people, especially the sons and daughters of the region need to be encouraged from high school (SMA) graduates both public and private, especially in the five existing customary areas," he said.
.
Meanwhile, Head of the Papua Province BPS, Simon Sapary appreciated the visit of the Head of the Papua Regional Education, Library and Archives Service and his entourage.
.
Simon said that his party was ready to provide and prepare accurate and detailed data according to requests from the Head of the Papua Regional Education, Library and Archives Service, because for him the problem of illiteracy was very high in Papua, both on the coast to remote mountains.
.
"Therefore, through this visit of the Head of the Education Office, we hope that there will be major changes in improving the world of education in Papua, one of which is to eradicate the number of stupidity and illiteracy itself," he said.
.
According to him, this year BPS will conduct a population census throughout Indonesia, including in Papua in July. For this reason, it is hoped that there will be support from the public and business actors as well as regional governments in the success of this national agenda.
.
"We will prepare a special questionnaire for data recording officers about illiteracy in all regencies / cities in Papua," he said.
.
Through accurate and transparent data, he added, all problems in the community, whether economic, educational, socio-cultural and infrastructure, will be completely inputted.
.
The census also aims to support the progress of physical development, better development of Papuan human resources in the future.
